Broken Wheat or Daliya Sheera

Ingredients (for 2-3 servings)

1 cup coarsely ground wheat

3-4 tbls ghee

1 cup sugar or grated jaggrey

3 cups boiling hot water

1/2 tsp green cardamom powder

1/2 cup chopped almonds and pistachios, mixed

1 tbls raisins

Method (how to make sheera)

Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed wok or kadhai.

Add broken wheat to the melted ghee and stir-fry until it turns golden colour.

Add 2 cups of boiling water and simmer gently, covered. Stir frequently. Make sure that wheat is cooked through.

Add remaining water and sugar or jaggarey and stir continuesly.

Add raisins and half of the almond and pistachios and cardamom powder.

Cook until ghee separates and sheera comes off the edges.

The consistency of the finished product is like mashed potatoes.

Garnish with remaining almonds and pistachios.

Serve hot
