Onion Samosa
Ingredients (for 4-5 serrvings)

2 cup all purpose Flour

2 tbsp oil

¼ tsp Salt

¼ tsp carom seeds
-
Oil for deep frying
For filling:

2 large Onion (finely chopped)

½ tsp Red chili powder
-
¼ tsp dry mando powder Or
-
½ tsp lemon juice
-
½ cup Poha ( beaten rice), ground to a powder
-
Salt as per taste
-
2 tbsp Coriander leaves
-
1 tbsp Oil
Method(How to make onion samosa at home)

In a bowl, add flour, salt and 2 tbsp oil and mix well.

Add warm water, little by little, to make a smooth dough.

Cover with a damp cloth and leave aside for 20 mts.
For filling

Heat oil in a wok or pan, add sliced onions and saute on low to medium flame for 4-5 mins.

Add red chili powder and dry mango powder or lemon juice and mix well.

Add the powdered poha, salt and chopped coriander leaves and mix well, turn off the flame.

make lemon sized balls of the dough and and roll the balls into thin rotis around 3” inch diameter.

Prepare with rest of the rotis likewise and keep them covered with a kitchen towel.

Cut each roti into two halves and keep aside.

Take one piece and wet the sides lightly all around and fold it into a cone shape. Pinch the side of this cone so that it is completely sealed.

Fill the cone with about 1 teaspoon of filling. Press this filling down.

Close the top of the cone to form a triangular shape, pinching the top edge to seal it completely.

Make rest of the samosa with the same procedure.

Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel. Once the oil is medium hot, reduce flame to low-medium, add 4 to 5 samosa into the oil carefully and allow to cook on both sides till they become golden brown.

Do not cook on high flame.

Remove the fried golden brown samosas onto an absorbent paper.

Fry rest of the samosas in a same manner.

Onion samosa is ready for serving. Serve it with tea or coffee.
